DVUG Feb. Meeting Notice
Tuesday, February 18th from 7:30
to 9:30 pm will be the second meeting of the Digital Video User Group (DVUG).
We will have a monthly meeting of about 2 - 3 hours. This meeting and
the one in March will take place on the third Tuesday of the month, in the Montgomery Community Television Classroom, 7548
Standish Place, Rockville, MD 20855 (click on map link on the
left). If the Montgomery County Schools are closed for snow or ice
there will be no meeting.
This month's meeting will feature:
A plea for those with Digital Camcorders to please bring them
to the meeting. We would like you to discuss the Pros and Cons of
each, including the Audio, Video and the ease of use. Many
members would like to purchase digital camcorders and would like to
see and hear about your experience.
"Living Buyers' Guide", with club members testifying
about equipment (tripods, editing systems, etc.) and software they own and what they like and dislike
about it. If you are just getting interested in nonlinear
digital video editing and you are contemplating some purchases, or if
you are considering upgrading, this is the meeting for you.
"Your short video clips", max 3 minutes, illustrating
tips and tricks. This is your chance to strut your stuff!
Prepare them on a miniDV, VHS or SVHS tape. If you would like your
clip(s) to be included, contact Tom Hoopengardner, thoopengardner@comcast.net

Pictures at the Top of the
Page
If you don't understand the
explanations of the pictures at the top of the page given below, you
will after a few DVUG meetings. If you do then you can help other
users in the group! The streaming video in the article Intro
to Digital Video shows the green screen in action.
The picture in the middle is of a
Panasonic Digital Camcorder taken in front of a green screen. A
video background from the Digital Juice collection was composited with
the camcorder and the green screen was keyed out. The Adobe
Premiere timeline on the right was constructed in order to produce a
video that demonstrates how green screen compositing works.
The left picture is a timeline
from a show on Arson Dogs and demonstrates transitions, sound tracks and
the use of multiple video tracks.
