Once a week, join other singers, instrumentalists and aspiring producers and
learn modern music production techniques at very reasonable prices. ‘Home Hitz’
is a four-week workshop that will teach you how to make and record music using
your personal home computer. It is presented by a young, professional, skilled,
fun and patient musician who takes pleasure in demonstrating that it doesn’t
have to cost a fortune to make good music. ‘Home Hitz’ is ideal for absolute
beginners, and especially singers, instrumentalists and groups interested in
learning how to inexpensively record a demo CD or video enthusiasts interested
in learning how to make music for their video productions.
‘Home Hitz’ is a four-week workshop covering topics that include:
-Computer music production basics (MIDI, ASIO, sampling, etc.)
-Designing and assembling an inexpensive home recording studio
-Pros and cons of hardware vs. software
-Analysis of popular commercial music production software packages
-How and where to find good free software (legally!)
-Hands on step-by-step instructions on how to create your own professional
quality demo and burn it to CD
The fee for the workshop is $160 ($120 for DVUG members) which includes the cost

Bio for William Jenkins:
He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Georgia
Tech and works as a Hardware Design Engineer for Hughes Network Systems in
Gaithersburg. William considers himself first a classically trained
musician and an electrical engineer second. He plays several instruments
including the piano, violin and string bass but his greatest pleasure comes from
making music with his computer. His recent experiences include
working with hip-hop station 93.9 WKYS and recording
with up and coming local artists." William is also a certified
Video Field technician from Montgomery Community Television.
